At The Moment

This week I want to push a diocesan workshop called "Nourished at Table—Sent to Serve."  It will be at St. Joan of Arc Church in Kokomo, Saturday, November 21, 9 AM to 3 PM.  Any parishioner may attend by simply registering thru your respective parish office.  St. Ambrose 644-5956 or St. Mary 644-8467.  The parishes will pick up the tab.  Lunch is included as well as Mass with Bishop Higi.  The day is sponsored by the Office For Worship and RCIA.
Days like this are very important for our liturgical formation.  Who should attend?  All liturgical ministers including ushers and greeters, sacristans and ministers of the environment, lectors, communion ministers, and ministers of the assembly.  That includes everyone who comes to Mass.  All you need to do is register.  They have to know how many of there will be to feed.
There will be breakout sessions for all ministries.  The workshop will cover the following topics:

-- Understanding the connection between liturgy and the Christian life
     -- Liturgical Basics
-- Liturgy as ritual enactment of the Paschal Mystery
-- Using our ministerial identity to deepen our spirituality
-- Resources to help you in your ministry
-- Breakout sessions on the "nuts and bolts" of individual ministries.

And there will be a Workshop Extra: Updates on the upcoming changes to the text of the Roman Missal.

Do I have your interest yet?  I would like to see at least 20 or 30 participants from each parish.  Not 4 or 5.  We need the ongoing formation for liturgical ministry.  Don’t let time or distance stand in the way.  Liturgical ministry implies commitment.

Now.  Did you notice that there is no inclusion of liturgical music ministers?  That’s because they will be having a day all to themselves.  It will be on December 5 at St. Alphonsus in Zionsville.  Liturgical musicians might want to mark your calendars.  I’ll be issuing that invitation soon.

Remember, the parishes are picking up the tab on these workshops.  The resources being shared represent your Fruitful Harvest dollars at work.  We are paying for these resources—let’s take advantage of them!!

Remember—good liturgy doesn’t just happen.  It takes formation on our part, and what better way to connect?  Let’s make this a priority. T hanks for all your liturgical energy.
